Chocolate Hazelnut Spread

This simple recipe recreates a chocolate spread much like the popular Nutella product!

Servings: About 2 cups

4 ounces hazelnuts
2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tablespoons Virtue Sweetener
1 teaspoon vanilla extra


Preheat oven to 325F.

Spread hazelnuts in single layer on baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes. 

Transfer nuts to food processor and grind to a butter. In medium bowl, combine nut butter, coconut oil, cocoa, sweetener, vanilla and mix thoroughly. 

Store in refrigerator but allow to warm to room temperature prior to use.  

This recipe, because it lacks ingredients such as emulsifying agents like Nutella, will not be as smooth and have a somewhat different flavor. But it’s still got that tasty flavor of hazelnuts and cocoa. Because there is no sugar, the spread is very low-carb with around 11-12 grams net carbs in the entire batch.
